Senior Night turned into an offensive showcase Tuesday evening as the Valley City Hi-Liners rolled past Lisbon 25-4 in three innings to extend their winning streak to three games and improve to 9-4 on the season.

The night belonged to lone senior Lauren Larsen, the Hi-Liners’ veteran center fielder wearing No. 16, who was honored before the game in front of family, teammates, and fans. Larsen made the most of her Senior Night, reaching base multiple times, scoring several runs, stealing bases, and helping spark the explosive Valley City offense from the top of the lineup.

After Lisbon grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Hi-Liners quickly answered when seventh grader Noelle Quattry delivered an RBI single to score Larsen and tie the game. From there, Valley City’s offense completely erupted.

The Hi-Liners broke the game open with a massive 18-run second inning, overwhelming Lisbon with aggressive baserunning, hard contact, and relentless pressure throughout the lineup. Valley City collected hit after hit while forcing defensive miscues and taking advantage of extra bases at nearly every opportunity.

Quattry continued her standout night with two doubles and multiple RBIs, while Adalie Jewett delivered one of the biggest swings of the evening with a two-run home run to center field. Ellie Altringer added a double and scored several runs, Ashlynn Hartsell drove in runs with a key RBI single, and Josie Heck contributed with a double while consistently creating pressure on the bases.

Preslee Nielsen also helped fuel the offensive explosion both in the circle and at the plate, collecting key hits including a two-run double in the third inning. Finlee Hoffland added aggressive baserunning throughout the night, including a steal of home during the final inning.

In total, the Hi-Liners plated 25 runs across just three innings, highlighted by patience at the plate, timely hitting, and nonstop pressure offensively. Valley City’s depth was on display as contributions came throughout the lineup during the lopsided win.

Now winners of three straight, the Hi-Liners continue to trend upward as the regular season moves deeper into May, with confidence and momentum continuing to build for a Valley City squad playing some of its best softball of the spring. 🥎
