Thunder Football Registration 2026
Youth football matters in a town like Valley City because it’s bigger than just football. 🏈
It’s about teaching kids how to compete, how to handle adversity, how to be part of a team, and how to carry themselves the right way long before Friday nights ever arrive.
The Valley City Thunder Football program will hold its registration night on Wednesday, May 14 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Elementary Gymnasium for all VCPS, St. Kate’s, and BCN students entering 5th or 6th grade in the fall of 2026.
The Thunder program continues to serve as an important developmental step for young athletes in the Valley City football pipeline. Players will learn the fundamentals of football in an environment focused on effort, teamwork, discipline, and confidence-building while preparing for future opportunities within the Hi-Liner program.
Registration cost is $150 per athlete, and scholarships are available to help ensure every interested student has the opportunity to participate.
Families attending registration are asked to use the west door entrance only.

Valley City head football coach Chad Smith emphasized the importance of creating a strong experience for young athletes at the youth level.
“Our goal is to create a positive experience where kids can learn the game, compete, build friendships, and develop confidence,” said Smith. “Thunder Football is an important part of building the future of Hi-Liner football, but more importantly helping teach young athletes about accountability, teamwork, and toughness. We want kids excited to be part of something bigger than themselves.”
As youth participation numbers continue to shape the future of programs across North Dakota, Thunder Football remains a critical piece of developing both athletes and future leaders within the Valley City community. 🏈
