Hi-Liner Golf Claims Team Title at Griggs-Midkota Invite
On a cooler-than-expected day at Cooperstown Country Club, the Valley City Hi-Liner boys golf team didn’t just show up—they took control.
Valley City finished 1st as a team, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season. The Hi-Liners showcased both depth and consistency, placing four golfers inside the top 10 and all six competitors inside the top 15—a statement performance for a young group continuing to trend upward.
Leading the way was Kallen Hansen, who carded a 79 to finish 3rd overall. Close behind, Gavin Wiebe and Gray Kasowski each posted rounds of 85 to finish tied for 4th, while Riley Roelfsema rounded out the top performers with a 90, good for 10th place.
But what separated Valley City wasn’t just the top of the leaderboard—it was the depth. Austin Anderson (90) and Brody Kalbrener (94) finished 11th and 15th respectively, reinforcing the balance Coach Murray has been emphasizing early this season.
After the round, Coach Murray pointed to both the conditions and the growth of his group.
“It was a cooler day than expected, but we had a great showing from our young Hi-Liner boys golf team. To place first and have all six guys in the top 15 says a lot about where we’re at right now.”
With multiple underclassmen contributing in a big way, the Hi-Liners are building something sustainable—not just a one-day result.
Valley City will look to carry that momentum into their next meet on Saturday, May 2nd at Ashley Country Club for the South Border Classic.
