Hi-Liners Softball stays Hot, Improve to 8-4

The Valley City Hi-Liners are starting to stack something real.

With a 12-2 win over Enderlin on Monday, the Hi-Liners pushed their record to 8-4 on the season and have now won two straight, continuing a stretch of strong, consistent softball on both sides of the ball.

Valley City didn’t waste time getting on the board. After a pair of early outs in the first inning, the lineup flipped momentum quickly as Lauren Larsen sparked things with a single, and seventh grader Noelle Quattry followed with an RBI knock to give the Hi-Liners a 1-0 lead. That was the first sign of what would become a long night for Enderlin.

From there, Valley City applied pressure in every phase—bunting, base running, and forcing mistakes. The Hi-Liners capitalized on errors and aggressive baserunning in the second inning to stretch the lead to 4-0, showing a brand of softball that doesn’t rely on one swing, but instead wears opponents down.

Then came the fourth inning—the separator.

Valley City erupted for seven runs in the frame, turning a competitive game into a runaway. Extra-base hits from Jaye Potratz and Ellie Altringer highlighted the inning, but again it was Quattry delivering in a big moment, driving in another run as part of her multi-hit night. By the time the dust settled, the Hi-Liners had built an 11-1 lead and complete control of the game.

Let’s pause on Quattry—because this matters.

A seventh grader stepping into varsity and not just surviving, but producing against upperclass competition? That’s not normal. That’s a signal. Her presence at the plate and in the field is giving this team another layer, and if that trajectory continues, it changes the ceiling of this group.

In the circle, Delaney Everhart handled business. She worked five innings, allowing just two runs while keeping Enderlin off balance and limiting any chance of momentum swings. Clean, efficient, and exactly what you need when your offense is rolling.

Valley City tacked on one more in the fifth and closed it out from there.

By the Numbers:

  • Valley City: 12 runs on 10 hits

  • Enderlin: 2 runs on 2 hits

  • Delaney Everhart (W): 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 4 K

  • Noelle Quattry: Multi-hit game, 2 RBI, run scored

  • Multiple Hi-Liners contributed in a balanced offensive attack
